This is how we imagine the kit looking like, at the end of the project. We used the before image,
combined with computer manipulation to create this.
Polishing one of the bassdrums. I'm using a seaspunge underneath the sandpaper,
to make it fit the arching surface of the drum.
This takes veeeery loooong time!
I am using a very hard varnish, in order to make the surface as shiny as possible.
All in all I gave the drums 7 coats of varnish, with polishing inbetween every layer.
These shots are from layer number 6.
The drums must dry for at least 3 days before the next layer can be added.
To make the roomtemperature fit the drying temperature, I was allowed to make them dry
in my parrents livingroom... what an awful smell!
After the drying process, before I can decide wheter the keddles must have another round,
I check the entire surface for scratches and the likes. This one seems fine, no more layers for you then.
A closeup of one of the toms. Here you can really see the texture of the surface.
First shot of the assembled kit. Still missing a lot of hardware.
A litle more complete... still missing a little!
